ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jolinda Linden first touched clay at the age of five during art camp. Interestingly, even then her instincts were to roll the medium flat as the first step. Roughly fifty years later, with almost twenty years’ experience as a porcelain-based artist, Linden has kept that first step even as she moved from camp projects to intricate structural works, each the result of its meticulously fired components.
Born in Montana, Linden followed her love of science at school and was encouraged to be creative at home (her graduation gift was a kiln). Earning a Bachelor of Science at the University of Montana, Linden graduated to work in business. After starting a family and moving to Vancouver, Jolinda, looking for a personal niche, took a second look at her kiln and began to experiment with porcelain. It is that pivotal event and the subsequent exploration that has made the artist’s work a feature in collections throughout the United States and Canada. Today Linden works in a vast home studio in Washington State travelling back and forth between Canada and the U.S. for commissions, art shows and family.
